Gardening? Then sell your organic produce at the local farmer’s market.

My friend raises chickens on organic feed, and sells the eggs. She also buys organic produce and makes salsa’s, which sell like crazy here in Arizona. Another lady comes in to my work sometimes selling fresh, home made tamales, and she started doing it for extra cash, but her tamales are so popular, now some local stores even carry them.

People who care about animals and their health are always looking for eggs from well-cared for chickens that aren’t tortured, that roam free in a coop and eat nutritious food. Plus a lot of people love buying local favorites, so depending on what part of the country you live in, you could always just buy the ingredients and start making a local favorite food, with your own personal touch. Then start posting up ads on craigslist, and going around to the local businesses right before lunchtime, and watch how fast it sells.

This really depends on the resources you have available. Are you able to grow vegetables or farm chickens? There are a number of good opportunities in the organic food area but unless you have enough space to grow a viable amount of organic produce it may be better to source organic produce and create your own organic products to sell such as jams, preserves etc.

if you know how to garden on a large scale and are willing to learn how to do a commercial garden and work long hours for short pay than market farming (raising produce or livestock is for you). You will need at least 3 acres to make this profitable

Processing food that others produce into things like salsa, pickles, lacto-fermented goods is a good endeavor but in most states they require you do such in a licensed kitchen which is expensive to put together in your own home (a minimum of $10K to do this) and you will need to be inspected by county health. you will need to check with your stated dept of Agriculture and the State Board of Health to know if you can do any food processing without a license
